Samsung Galaxy S5 Verizon: Help me get started

Sorry as I'm sure this is posted regularly. I have read sites saying that rooting this combo is now blocked somehow. Is rooting and installing cyanogenmod doable?

Can someone point me to some detailed info?

Android v5 installed currently.

if you are on the firmware ending in BOE1, as far as I know, you can no longer root until someone finds a way around the the changes in the bootloader. As far as loading a custom rom such as cyanogenmod, due to Verizon locking the bootloader, you cannot. With the bootloader being locked, you cannot install a custom recovery needed for cm.

Go into settings > about phone

Note your Android version / baseband (last 3 digits) for example: OC4.

Then google instructions based off your baseband.
