I just got a Samsung galaxy s6 and it has a battery drain problem with phone idle and cell standby. The phone was factory reset 2 days ago. This has been happening overnight. The phone was at 88% battery when I went to sleep and when I woke up it was at 32%.

Well , the Galaxy S6 is a one year old phone. My recomendation is to check out the first threads regarding battery consumption at the S6. You must do some tweaking to stop the heavy drain of your S6 battery. Check out those first threads of 2015 when the phone comes out. If you are not lucky finding them write me a personal message and tonight, when I come home from the office , I will help you.

Test it again tonight with the same set up.
Then the next night test it with WiFi off.
I noticed on mine a higher then normal battery drain with WiFi on.

Did you check deep sleep? Last time I had battery drain overnight as well (over 20% one night in standby). Then I installed 3C CPU manager to check sleep time and found a crazy thing: I put my s6 in standby for one hour but sleep time in there was only several minutes, and it lost average 1% battery per 5 minutes. Then I did a factory reset and checked again, everything is just fine then, when my s6 put in standby for one hour, sleep time checked is one hour as well. Now overnight it lost average 3% only. I also heard many s6 lost deep sleep function when upgraded to Android 6.

I let my battery die all the way and charged the s6 back to 100%. I turned off sync, and another option called nearby device scanning that scans for devices even when Bluetooth is off. My battery overnight only dropped 8% compared to the previously losing 58% just from cell standby and phone idle. I installed 3C CPU manager and it says I have a sleep time of 10h 47m at 76% battery.
