Android Central Question

i get notifications and my phone will act as it normally does but i cant see the screen and its only black, i tried to force reset it by pressing the home button power screen and volume down, and i got a blue screen with 3 choices one was to install a custom OS, the other one was to cancel and restart phone, and the last one was to show bar code, i tried all of these and none of them worked.
No my phone has no water damage, screen is not cracked.

Well, that's weird. But if you're seeing something on the screen when rebooting into Recovery then that's good news as the problem isn't hardware related. Try booting up into safe mode just to make sure that a 3rd party app isn't causing the issue. Also, have you looked at the screen in a dark area? Maybe brightness was taken all the way down?

And if not, try Volume Down/Home/Power. That should bring you to a screen that tells you to press Volume Up to continue or Volume Down to restart the phone. (Volume Up/Home/Power should take you to the recovery menu - the first item will be to restart the phone - just tap the power button.)

If you don't get those responses, something's wrong, and the phone needs a repair shop. If you do, as SpookDroid suggested, boot into safe mode

  1. Turn the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Power key past the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge screen.
  3. When "SAMSUNG" appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  6. Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  7. Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode.

If it works, something you installed is keeping the screen dark.

If not, take the phone into a dark room and see if you can turn the brightness up (settings/display).
