Samsung Galaxy S8 Active lost internet connectivity for PC through router

[Android Central Question]

I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 Active (SM-G892A) runnng Android 7.0. When I connect it to my PC (an HP Z240 Tower Workstation) running Windows 7 Pro, I lose internet connectivity for that computer through my router. Why is that happening? What can I do to fix it?
I imagine re-setting the router might very well fix it, but can I stop if from happening again?

Welcome to Android Central! When you mention connecting to your PC, do you mean via USB? Or do you mean when you connect the phone to your home wi-fi network?

Sorry...wasn't thinking...connection between the S8 Active and PC is by USB.

Is USB Tethering turned on? If so, turn it off and see if that helps: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-34267
