Samsung Galaxy SIII Software Update - LF9

Just an fyi for anyone who's rooted and had to go through the unroot process after being notified of the update.

I saw the update notification, then unrooted and reloaded the stock recovery like it says to on CM's website. But when I rebooted, the notification was gone and when I went in to manually check that I had the latest LF9 update, it wasn't there and it kept saying I was up to date. I knew this wasn't the case because LF9 was not what I had in the 'about device'.

In any case, once I rebooted into the stock recovery, there was an option to update from internal cache and lo and behold, there was the update sitting in there. I chose it, it updated fine and now I'm going back and rooting the phone.

Hope that helps someone!

Anyone having issues with their phone not connecting to airave after this update?
Mine was connecting fine prior to the update. Now i have tried multiple reboots, it just wont connect.
:(

did it fix the slight lag from closing an app or hitting home button? I get a slight wallpaper lag issue when hitting home or backing out an app. The only complaint ive found with sprint s3

Could you post a screen shot of the about phone. I would like to see your baseband version and build number.

I also received the update while rooted but tried to install it. Of course it failed. I used Odin to return to stock and have been waiting all day for the update.

I just tried going to stock recovery but there was no option to update from internal cache. Only to update from sd card. I am guessing you were able to do it because you didn't try to install it while rooted.

I had this issue when I 1st received phone, Sprint tech said my msid was not programmed properly for Airave use. She got me into programming menu, changed my msid, wala, Airave connects now before I walk into my house. Update could have messed up msid #, plays an important part in Airave use. Most techs arent too bright to know this.

Un-rooted, then DL'd the security update, + it DL'd fine but when I attempted to activate it, it didn't stick.........using the Epic CM Team's tar I ODIN'd back to stock, booted to system + searched for the security DL but it was nowhere to be found; until I booted to stock recovery + indeed there it was in internal cache, so I flashed it: went from L710VPEN to L710VPLF9 (the new update).

Yup, root must've broken it for ya. :(

Thing is, in establishing cwm/root all over again, ODIN'd CWMv3 again, not 4, oh well there's always next time! :)

Rooted and lazy, so I'm waiting for the Redrum Rom to incorporate LF9. I downloaded the update but didn't install it, but in the meantime, does anyone know how to get rid of the install update reminder?

Update: Nevermind, Redrum 2.2 is up with LF9

Sure, here's the screenshot (I don't think that screen includes any personal info about the phone right?). You're right that I didn't try to install it while rooted, but I did try to install it with the cwm recovery loaded and it failed. The stock recover doesn't show any option at all to install from cache on the first menu list? I would think it would have the option no matter if you had anything in cache or not - that it would change the menu dynamically like that, but I don't actually know any of that of course.

Thanks... The update hasn't came back to me yet. So I'm rerooting and flashing a rom with it built in.
