Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 video conversion problem

I have recently purchased a Samsung Gaxaly Tab 2 7.0 ? GT-P3110. I am having a big problem with videos which I am converting from my DVDs to watch on the GT-P3110.
It seems that no matter what mpeg4 / avi or Samsung Galaxy Tab program pre set formats I convert them to, when copying to the 32GB micro SD card or internal memory on the tablet, I get a message that this video is not in a format that can be played.
I have been using Any Video Converter Ultimate as well as other free programs.
I am new to Android, so I would appreciate any help with the frustrating issue.

Are the files size bigger than 4gbs? If yes you need to format the SD card to exFat.

Have you tried these files on another device to make sure they are playing?
