Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 and my headphones don't get along.

I just received my new tablet in the mail today. As in the topic title, a Tab A8. It all works great except for one thing, my headphones give my tablet some problems. My headphones are Sony mdr-xb550AP. If I have them plugged in and I'm on the lock screen entering my PIN, it will act as if entering a wrong PIN, over and over. When I'm past the lock screen, sometimes my media volume goes mute, as if my headphones spammed a "volume down" command or something.

I haven't been able to find anything relating to my problem, so maybe someone has some words to point me in some direction. *shrug*. If you need to know more, let me know.

Welcome to Android Central! First, make sure the plug is pushed in completely -- sometimes the jack can be pretty tight, and if the plug isn't completely in, the functionality can be glitchy. You should hear or feel it click into place.

If that doesn't help, then make sure the jack is clear of any debris. Use a can of compressed air to blow it out, and a toothpick to root around.

I was being dumb and didn't refresh the page properly. I thought maybe I left the page without sending the reply. The post I want deleted was just a double post.

Can you test another pair of headphones to see if the same thing happens?

I tested a bunch of hdadphones/ear bud things and they work fine. It must be these headphones. It's weird though that they work fine with my Galaxy Tab A6. It also sucks because these headphones are somewhat new. I might go and order a new pair though.

Compare the headphone plugs side by side -- are the rings in the exact same places?

Strange. Will the seller give you a replacement for free? If not, maybe contact Sony about warranty service.

Seems Sony only has a 90 day warranty. These headphones are a bit older than that. Not much else I can do at this point. Thanks for trying to help :)
