Samsung Galaxy tablet isn't charging when power is on. Red x shows on charging icon.

This happens when plugged into the USB adapter into the electrical outlet and when plugged into the USB port on my computer. When I powered the tablet off and plugged the charger in it took 24 hours to go from 2% to 90%. But after using it for a short time today it was down to 25 %. Is the adapter, the cord, or the tablet broken?

Welcome to Android Central! I suspect a dying battery. A faulty charging cable or plug wouldn't explain the quick drop to 25%. You'd have to bring it to a repair shop to replace the battery (or look up a DIY battery replacement YouTube video, if you want to try it yourself).
