Samsung Galaxy Watch not synching WhatsApp messages

My Samsung Galaxy Watch does not synch messages received on my Galaxy S9 phone. I have checked that all necessary permissions are set to 'On' in the Galaxy Wearable app on my phone and tried doing a factory reset but still no messages on the watch. Can anyone help?

Try reinstalling WhatsApp and see if that works before making any notification changes for WhatsApp on phone.
