Hi there,

I'm a newbie here and have joined this forum because I've just purchased my first smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Y. I look forward to much interaction with you all.

After many hours of a learning curve I've been able to configure the phone just as I want it to be. There is still some work to do though.

The most annoying problem at the moment is trying to access the data on the phone via my pc. I installed Samsung's Kies for this purpose, but after many hours of installing/uninstalling and then connection error scans I just can't get the program to work for me. I'm not alone because countless others have similiar difficulties. I've given up on Kies!

Is there another way that I can access the information on my phone? I read something somewhere regarding 'mass storage'? I'm still using XP.

By the way, I also tried Kies on my Windows 7 laptop but with no luck there also. I kept getting a message that the following drivers could not be found:

CDC Abstract Control model (ACM)
CDC ATM data
CDC Object Exchange
CDC Obex data
BCM 2155 - Thunderbird

I reinstalled about three times. No luck. I then read somewhere that Android 2.3.6 is buggy with USB.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. :)
