Hi I'm interested in the above two devices.

All I really want it for is to monitor my steps, track my sleep & be able to use it as a silent alarm. I often miss phone calls so it would be good to let me know when my phone is going off.

My other half uses the Fitbit Flex but the vibration on the silent alarm doesn't go on long enough, nor is it strong enough to wake me up. I'm assuming this would be the same with the Fitbit charge etc.

I'm quite a deep sleeper and easily sleep through my house phone ringing when its on my bedroom side.

So will the Gear 2 Neo or Gear Fit be suitable & have a strong enough vibration to do what I'm looking for? Is there any other device I should be looking at?

Thanks in advance

Don't know the gear fit but the neo doesn't have such a stron vibration. That and the sound can wake me up but...
The neo has manu other functions such as a bigger screen to read notifications, possibility to talk from it, some keyboard apps to answer short messages, ir blaster, etc. At least those were my reasons to buy it...
Regards

My experience with wake up alarms and wearable devices is that wake up devices are very specialized and loud. In our household, each of the family members has their own wake up alarm clock.

The wearable devices, are adequately loud for notification if you are awake or distracted but not if you are in deep sleep. I have tried Zenwatch, Gear Fit, Gear S and find the Gear Fit to be the most noticeable alarm in vibe and sound likely due to to shape and placement on wrist...more surface area and would expect it to be as loud/vibrant as Gear 2. Family members use Gear Fits as notification device communicating with their S5s and Note 4s. I use a gear S with my note 4 and am learning to use it for health improvement purposes.

The Gear 2 was not a choice for me as the price was same as Gear S. I liked the Gear Fit best for functionality and aesthetics, and could not forget the lovely AMOLED display on the slender wrist band..way better than Fitbit Flex. Would have purchased another Gear Fit if i could have gotten a third Gear Fit for same price as BB Black Friday two for $100 refurb sale but current best price is refurb Fit for $100. Went with Gear S.

My advice, get a dedicated wake up alarm device. If you want to track sleep you will need to be able to charge your device during the day as using during sleep conflicts with charging and device requires charging daily. Any of the Gear devices s a good match for Galaxy S5 or Note 4 mobile device. My carrier is verizon.

BTW:
I did not consider the Gear 2 Neo as I do not care for its appearance and do not consider it to have a premium appearance as do the Gear 2, S, and Fit. also the the Fit is equally handsome on my twenty something large son with big paws and my slim teen daughter with slender wrists. He wears it in black and it is very handsome and masculine; she wears it in backgrounds to match her outfits and moods and looks stylish.

Also, I have come to appreciate the remote phone feature of the Gear S (without phone activation) and now consider it indispensable. I do not know if Gear 2 or Neo have this talk capability but may affect your selection criteria.

I got a Gear 2 Refurb off EBay for 160 you should just do the same. Don't settle pay about half price. Almost snagged a Moto 360 for 165 that was like new buy got Gear 2 instead, had a 360 I returned after paying 230 for it, the higher end wear devices aren't worth the price for Gen 1. I think if anyone's deciding between the 2 just buy a Gear 2 and the cheapest Android wear. Pebble is kinda useless I have the steel its only good for seeing phone calls and texts.
