Seems like with the new S9+ there's a bunch of little things either missing, don't work as good as they or just seem off compared to last years model.

Here's a small list I've noticed so far. Correct me if I'm wrong.

- Can't seem to find the option to force full screen in apps and games anymore. I had to go into settings and flip the switch to force full screen instead of hitting the full screen button during minimize.
- No way to customize text notification sounds for contacts now.
- No way to customize the background wallpaper for the text conversations.
- Netflix on the S9+ is horribly darker than the S8+. Some scenes are almost unwatchable even on full screen brightness. Ran the S8+ and S9+ side by side for comparison, it's night and day.
- Had a few freeze issues when jumping in and out of the camera or after recording video.
- Swiftkey has a scaling issue with the keyboard on the S9+. It's HUGE on medium setting.
- Opened the color adjust option on both S8+ and S9+ (under screen mode). The scaling of their vegetable example picture scales differently on both phones.
- Always on display on the S9+ added new clocks. But then removed the clock backgrounds at the same time.

Anyone else come across more?

None yet, but the custom text notifications, lack of text background options, and the swiftkey thing have been grinding my gears all day since I switched from the S7. Knowing who is texting while I'm at a job is a pretty huge thing for me as it means the difference between stopping what I'm doing to respond or finish up.

I'm on SwiftKey beta and am not seeing scaling issues on my s9+. I tried every size option, they all look/work OK.

For the next notification issue, I assume this is a limitation of the Samsung message app for the s9? I use Textra and can (still) set custom contact notifications.

The custom text tomes was lost on my S9+ too so when I returned it and kept my S8+ I figured it would be there but the Oreo update took the feature away. You have to use a 3rd party app to customize text tones now.

Yes, it seems this is true unfortunately.

Really? I tried the Beta and found the same problem. On "medium" the keyboard is HUGE. I have it on "Smallest" and it's sorta close to what it used to be on "Medium".

Are you using the S9+ on the full resolution? WQHD+

try changing the screen resolution to fix the swiftkey issue. it's a problem with swiftkey not supporting the new aspect ratios.

The aspect ratio is the same as the S8 and Note8. If it was an aspect ratio issue, many people would have the same problem.

On my Note 8 and S8+ in the messaging app I was able to swipe a text message to call the person right away. They took that away also.

Sounds like this is with the Oreo update, and will probably be added back in an update.

On the plus side one thing that really annoyed me with the past Samsung Messaging app is when you would tap on a link it would take you to a baked in Samsung Browser with the option to only open it in the full Samaung Browser but now it takes you to your default browser which in my case is Google Chrome. That and no gif support was a big reason for me to use Textra in the past. The removal of background options or bubble options is not a big deal for me since I use a black Samsung theme and makes the messaging app the same as the theme which I like anyway. Custom ringtones wasn't big for me since my device pretty much stays in Vibrate mode. The only one thing I miss is what I mentioned earlier which is the swipe to call option on a text message.

The text ringtone issue is irritating. This also happens with any notifications. Before I could change my default notifications on just my text messages while keeping the main default for Calendar, alarm, email etc. Now it will only use the main default. Which is irritating when I'm working. If everthing is the same then I don't know what to prioritize.

I'm using the Verizon Message+ app for texting and I am able to set individual tones.

One thing I've found to be a tad annoying (not a deal breaker) is that if you have multiple text messages, if you go into the messaging app to respond to one text but not the other, it removes the number on the messaging icon. Just a little annoying because I don't always respond to every text message right away and I save it for a later time.

Also they got rid of my favorite notification tone, the birds chirping. I've had a bird chirping notification tone for my text messages since high school lol, I wasn't ready to let that go so I downloaded zedge and got the bird chirping lol.

Also I do wish I could change the messaging app background. I found this moving wallpaper that I love for my lock screen and this very pretty background for my home screen so I don't want a theme.

Other than that, I'm enjoying my upgrade from the s6 to the s9+.

That option is buried somewhere in the settings. I found it somehow. It may be in the dialer app!

Actually i think it only gives the option to swipe to call from the contacts screen. :/
