Bekerbert, one more question for you before I buy this adapter....

...does the phone charge with this adapter when plugged in?? Not sure if the HDMI cable would provide voltage to charge the phone through the adapter.

The thing that sucks is, your adapter must be plugged in to use. adapter plugged in to phone, micro usb and HDMI cable plugged in to adapter...it is a lot of wires
and it mirrors what is on your home screen, except for a couple of apps (HBO GO and Samsung media hub....only ones that i have found not to work, i am sure there are others)

what is nice about the MHL adapter compared to micro HDMI is....you can split sound if you want to, video out MHL and sound out of the headphone jack.

Has anyone tried out one of these? AllShare Cast Wireless Hub | Samsung Mobile

I have done the micro HDMI to HDMI thing with my Iconia A100 and I don't really care for being tethered. This is a pricey option, but I believe Samsung was offering, and may still be, a 50% discount on accessories when you register your GS3.

Hey Bakerbert, is the adapter you have 5 pin or 11 pin?? I seem to be coming across this discrepancy. The S3 has an 11 pin port while the S2 and older models have a 5 pin. I just want to make sure I'm buying the right adapter, lol!

sorry man, i just called my buddy with the s3, he said that my adapter only worked on his phone, because he has an 11pin to 5pin converter HDTV Adapter TIP (5 to 11 Pin Converter)

sorry again, i did not see him use the 5 to 11 converter...I just assumed.
I should check fact before i open my mouth

im pretty pissed with samsung for changing things from universal grr

I really love the idea of the Allshare Cast Wireless Hub but I just don't trust wifi to stream 720p or 1080p video. I expect lots of hiccups, especially if you go 1080p. I have my HTPC in the same room as my wireless router and sometimes streaming even non-HD content gets a little skippy. It might be interference in my place but I'm probably going to stick with the MHL adapter.
