also only 240 x 400 3" screen according to the pcmag.com hands on article. A downgrade from the almost year old moment. I would not call this a "mid range" android phone. It's entry level.

I have the moment and my wife has the hero along with her sister and her sister's roommate....The moment is great when it works....But there are some problems...like for me I have to restart the phone every day....annoying. Some times it takes (and I am not kidding) 30 min to make a call. Come on Epic.

The latest update from Sprint (roms based on it at least) make my hero restart once a day automatically. Its not just sense reloading, its a full restart. The screen goes black HTC, then loads. Don't know why, but I went with an older ROM and all is well again. Froyo works better than the recent updates... thats sad.

On the good side, people are only complaining of it taking 30 seconds to make a call. 30 min would be too much for me to standby and deal with. If I was a Pre owner, though (which i was) I would be pissed and take the phone back for the 5 minute restarts that are frequently required and google maps taking like 30 seconds to a minute just to stop glowing and load, not including the time it takes to get a GPS lock, which is patchy at best.

Yes, Sprint released a press release on the Intercept and it states using Rev. 0.

2.4 Mbit/s vs. 3.1 Mbit/s... I just don't see the big deal. I know that it also provides some level of latency reduction, but for someone paying $100 for a FULL Android device, I don't think it's that big of a deal.

I completely agree that it's an entry-level phone, but for someone like my wife that just wants great texting capabilities (spell check, better organization of text, etc.), a better calendar, and some browsing capabilities, it's not a problem.

I'm really just here because I was hoping that I could find some tweaks for it, but I guess there aren't enough out there yet.

4 Reasons to get the Moment over the Intercept

1.) The Moment has Rev A, the intercept has Rev 0
2.) The Moment has the standard resolution of 320 x 480 which developers have been developing for since the G1 first came out. The Intercept has this wacky 240 x 400 resolution that is already showing problems for apps.
3.) The Moment comes with SEPARATE charger and Data Cable (this is HUGE for me as i leave the data cable for charging at home and keep the charger in my bag for charging on the road.)
4.) The moment comes with headphones.

2.) The intercept will get 2.2/Froyo officially. The Moment will not.

I actually think this is a pretty good roundup, but you forgot two other things:

3) The Intercept has a MUCH better keyboard
4) The Intercept - because of a smaller screen and 2.2 - has better battery life

All that said, you're right, the Moment might be better, but it's going away soon.

But the moment is too big and clunky and not mention the keyboard is awful. Intercept is better size and the keyboard is awesome. You can actually tell the difference by touch where the keys begin and end.

If you want to root your phone and think 1Mbs of downloading is going to make a different go for the moment, but be prepared to be lugging that fat phone around.

Since it's unlikely you will ever be downloading more than 400-700Kbits per second from any website, over 2Mbps should get the job done.

i just got the phone yesterday and it really isn't a bad device, i love it actually. its not chunky, feels right in your hand. i held the moment and played with it at the store and it just did not feel like a good phone to me

i like the phone personally, it is a bit glitchy, but nothing too troublesome, my only serious complaint is the severe lack of internal memory and the fact that all those 8gb internal claims on the spec charts was a huge lie, even on Samsungs own website, it's listed to have 8gb internal, i emailed them about the matter, they finally replied stating that it comes with only 155mb...yyeaaahh

Just got this intercept came over from a blackberry and really its not that comfortable in my hand almost falls out all the time its too small think I'll take it back but not quite sure what I will get to replace it maybe evo maybe another blackberry

Just got this and it feels like a downgrade from my Pre. It is slow, laggy and it just freezes up constantly. Getting rid of most of my home screen bling made it a little better, but now I have given up quite a bit of functionality, and it is still laggy. the worst part is when the capacitive buttons crap out and the thing just becomes totally non-responsive. The screen is a bit stupid, since the phone is basically useless in landscape mode. But its a landscape slider, so you are going to want to use it in landscape mode. It just doesn't make sense. Games are a total disaster here, don't even try. All the textures in the games that ive played have been fubared.

Form factor is good though, the display looks alright, the keyboard is nice, Rev 0 really isn't an issue and playing with android is fun. That said, it is going back. I'm not sure if it was a mistake getting this versus the Hero, but one thing i can say for certain is that the Epic is well worth whatever extra it will cost.

i Have the EVO and while I was not expecting the same quality of hone, the Intercept is becoming a PIMA. I got it for my wife and it constantly freezes up. One day she could not even make a phone call. Did everything, even shut it down for a few minutes, turned it back on and still nothing. I have since replaced it with a new one. Still very laggy. It reminds me of my first computer. I told her after she presses something give it a few seconds. Of course she doesn't and presses two or three times. Then the processor catches up and she is somewhere she doesn't want to be. Then she tries to go back and no response. I hope a hack or Froyo comes out and solves these problems soon. This phone is driving her nuts, which in turn is driving me nuts.

Well, I could not deal with it. Actually I could not deal with my wife getting pissed at me every time her phone wouldn't work. I bought her the Epic.
