samsung keyboard - not auto-capitalizing i

Very strange that the Samsung keyboard application does not auto capitalize I.

Couldn't find anything in the settings.

Please don't suggest i switch to another keyboard app.

In the keyboard settings under more typing options there's an auto capitalization option that you turn on.

I did that.
It only auto capitalizes the first word after a period (full stop).
It will not auto capitalize the i within a sentence.

I just tried it and it's working fine for me capitalizing the I within a sentence. That's the only suggestion I had. Hopefully, someone else can help.
