Samsung Kies or Smart Switch for back up

Hello.....Which method should I use to back up my Galaxy S9 Plus....Kies or Smart Switch? Does it really make a difference? With Pie being released I want to make sure my S9 plus is backed up on my PC. Thank you.

Kies has been deprecated for years and, to the best of my knowledge, doesn't support a connection to the S9 line. The current backup/transfer suite available is Smart Switch.
