Samsung LED cover query

Hi I am using a S8+ with an led cover, I am not sure if it is coincidence but my phone does not deliver notifications consistently for various apps when the cover is closed. Is there a setting I can change so I can get apps like my emails to always notify me? Thks

There's no setting for this and whether I use a cover or not, I still miss notifications several times throughout the day. I think it has to do with some functions sleeping to save battery power while the phone sleeps. I have no ideas on if this is even preventable.
