Samsung Nexus S Stock Jelly Bean Strange Issue

Ok, I have a refurbished Samsung Nexus S GT-i9020t that I purchased today. I am using simple mobile as my network, now my phone doesn't pick up any signal. I do get a notification for voicemail but no signal to check it. I can drive around town and occasionally get 1-2 bars on edge. any ideas? Thanks

Switch to a REAL carrier. That all you can do, it's not the phone it you...and your service provider. Sorry dude

YA, that not the issue. I've tried an activated AT&T and T-Mobile sims. Still no luck.
