Samsung Note 3 lock screen issue

The only option I have on my Note 3 for lock screen is PIN and Password. I had pattern unlock set and it just changed and now it is not available... WHY IS THIS THE ONLY TWO OPTIONS NOW AVAILABLE? ... UGH

Is this an employer phone? I know our work phones won't work with certain password types.
