Samsung Note 4 Fingerprint Scanner option missing on lockscreen how do I get in my phone?

I locked my screen as usual, then went to unlock with my fingerprint and after several failed attempts it asked for my back up password.
My backup password failed to work as well.
Now the fingerprint scanner doesn't even show and the password isn't working...I don't want to lose my data in a factory reset.
Any solutions?

Well I don't really know what to do in this case. So in this situation, I would completely turn off the device. Then simultaneously press the Home; Volume Up & Power button until the phone goes into Recovery mode. Then carefully find the option to wipe Cache. [my apologies for talking to you in this simplistic way, but I have no knowledge of your understanding of the device you have or of Android]. I'm hoping that this should clear the error.
