samsung note 8 oreo picture and picture verizon how to use it?

For my maps and YouTube (red subscription required) I just hit the home button when the app was in use and it automatically switched over to PIP.

PIP is an Oreo feature that is designed primarily for video content and navigation. The app has to be enabled for this feature, and there is a short list of enabled apps. I know YouTube Red and Google navigation are enabled, and you activate it by tapping the home button.
There is also Split Screen which we have had since Nougat that works with many more apps (but not all) and is activated by holding the Recent button.
Then there is Multiwindow - a Samsung feature. Pretty sure it works with every app. Must be turned on in Settings, and is activated by a diagonal swipe gesture from top left or top right. Personally, I have a heck of a time trying to swipe just right for this to work. So much so that I find it too difficult to use. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, I don't know. More often than not, I get unintended results trying to swipe - opening menus, activating the settings drop down, or something else. So I really don't use it. Shame, because the effect is the nicest of the three, in my opinion.
