Having some problems setting up Samsung Pay. At first it would get to the 'Verify with Fingerprint' page but would go no further. I tried restarting and whatnot and then eventually clearing the cache for Samsung Pay. After that it wouldn't even get past the SP intro screen and would eventually say 'Can't Communicate with...'

Did some online research and it seems like this same thing happened to others with both the S7 and S8. Some blamed it on backing up Samsung Pay from the Play Store rather than downloading it from Samsung directly and said that only a factory reset would cure it. I'm trying that now and will report back.

Pretty annoying way to start off as I use SP a LOT.

Hope that works for you. I've been using it since the S6 edge and never had any issue with it when setting it back up again.

Update: It worked correctly the 2nd time around. So my advice is that when you use Google to automatically backup your apps you DESELECT Samsung Pay and let it be downloaded later on in the process from Samsung directly.

Hope I saved someone some time.

while that's a good idea, it's the restoring of the apps automatically that is creating the issue.

I back my apps up, but never let them restore automatically on a new device. the first thing I do is go to the store and uncheck the auto-update. then I manually load the apps I use, but only ones from the Play Store.

I would never restore such a critical Sammy app from the Play Store or let it update there. just my process.

I had the same issue with mine, and I tweeted Samsung Pay about it. They told me that the app doesn't technically support the Note 8 till 09/15, but now I'm questioning that answer. I had tried to uninstall and then re-install it from Galaxy Apps. Thought that might be better than the Google Pay version. Maybe when I get home, I'll try to uninstall and re-install from the play store.
