samsung pay

I have been using Samsung Pay successfully as Credit only. I have my debit card linked and If I choose Debit as the form of payment it comes back and says I have an Incorrect PIN number. But if I choose credit it goes through with no issues.

This is the problem. Either it works and I can rely on it, or I am just going to use my credit card. If it works 4/5 times, that means it still fails 20% of the time and debit card works 100% of the time.

Say it works 9/10 times... What am I going to do, roll the dice and take a 10% chance I have to tell the cashier to put everything back because I don't have my wallet?

Don't get me wrong, this is the best phone I've ever seen. I have used NFC payments for 5 years now. I just accepted at first that I was an early adopter. I want it to become the standard. Now it's time for it to work or I'm done with it.

I tend to agree with you. It is great, but I can't leave my wallet at home. While Samsung Pay has worked well for me, I don't have enough faith in it to not have my wallet with me. Whether it's Samsung Pay, Apple Pay or Android Pay, it's new technology and it's only going to get better. I will use it when I feel comfortable and when I don't I will pull out the card. I certainly will not hold up a line if I am not confident that it will work the first time I try.

Finally got it to work. First I tried a gas station without NFC and it failed. Next I tried a grocery store with an NFC terminal but with the non-NFC method and it failed. Finally used the NFC method at the same terminal and it worked beautifully. $20 gift card in the bag.

Never had an issue (other than people screaming at me because I 'hacked' their terminal with my hacker phone) using Samsung Pay. Sometimes the cashier needs to initiate the process, and they usually do when they see you take out your card, but with the phone, you might have to tell them you're using a 'card' to pay.

Except cards don't work 100% of the time. Have you ever seen a cashier rubbing the magnetic strip on their shirts or looking at a worn-out strip and giving you the stink eye? Yup.

I found it strange as well. I've used Apple pay there many times. The only thing I could think of is maybe the system didn't like that I was using the Samsung rewards card I was using to pay. It would ask for a pin, I would select credit and it would get denied. This happened twice. Worked like a charm at the other two stores though.

The Samsung Rewards card is a debit card, not a credit one. And on top of that, Citi did say they were having issues with the cards getting declined but those were 'being resolved'.

I'm seeing a lot of conflicting info about whether I should be using debit or credit. If I have my debit card in Samsung Pay, do I want to choose debit or switch to credit? Also, if I use debit and have to enter a PIN do I enter the PIN I originally set up with the physical card?

When using Samsung Pay using your debit card you enter the pin that's assigned to that card.
