Emailed Assurant regarding the recall, who runs the Protection Plus, was told to contact my carrier for any questions. My carrier doesn't know what to tell me because I didn't purchase it through them. I ordered it through Samsung website.

Anyone else having this experience? I'll update this when I have more info.

If you ordered your Note 7 directly through Samsung, then you will go through them for the return and/or exchange.

Look here about the middle. Call the toll free number (1-800-SAMSUNG) and they will tell you what the process is.

I bought my phone through Sprint but purchased Samsung Protection Plus on my own. I returned the phone to Sprint for a complete refund (and reinstatement of my upgrade) and then called Samsung Protection Plus and cancelled my protection contract. They are going to send me a check with the refund amount. That was my experience.
 
Plan on updating my plan after I recieve the new 7 hopefully they will reset the date on the protection too
