I have my first smart watch and so far I like it except it counts steps when I am actually just moving my arm. Last night I clocked 75 steps while cooking dinner. The only thing moving was my arm as I stirred the food. My husband and I both got our watches the same day and so far I average 1 or 2 miles worth of steps more than him and but we have done everything together. So do I have a faulty watch or is there a setting I need to change.

I think it's pretty much how most smartwatches are. They are not dedicated fitness trackers, so their accuracy is not the best, but accurate enough to give an approximation or idea of how active you've been. And yes, certain movements will trigger the step counter... try holding the car wheel with the arm where you have your watch and drive through a bumpy road.
