samsung s3 not connecting to smart tv

Hi guys i have a galaxy s3 and a smart tv my s3 had no problems connecting to it until i updated it now it doesn't connect any more any idea why

If it's a Samsung Smart TV, it should still connect. If not, you need some "helper" - an MHL adapter, Chromecast, etc. Samsung phones' native "TV connection" is only designed to work with Samsung TVs. If may work with another brand, but there's no guarantee that it'll keep working through version updates.
