Samsung S5 vs Moto X Play

I am trying to decide between a S5 and a Moto X Play, both of which are available free on contract from Rogers Canada.

Which one would you choose? S5 is a 2014 top end phone; and the Moto X Play is a 2015 midranger. Do you think the S5 will get the newer 6.0 update and further?

The Galaxy S5, Canadian regional model, G900W8, is already on Android 6.0.1, Marshmallow although it is highly unlikely to receive Android 7.0, Nougat in future as is the Moto X Play.

I would choose the Moto X Play. Samsung and Rogers/Bell/Telus have reached the end of their update support for the GS5 (nothing officially in writing, but a solid guarantee).

Moto is more likely to continue updating their device.
