Samsung S6 or Nexus 6?

Nexus 6. I had the Note Edge and before that I had the Note 3. I really liked the Note 3. That was what took me away from Apple. The Note Edge was kind of cool but, at times the curved screen acted weird and the device was hard to handle. My concern with the Nexus 6 was the battery life and size. The battery life is essentially very similar to my Note series. The curved back on the Nexus 6 helps with the size. It makes it feel smaller than it really is.

Also, with the Note 3 and Edge and also the S6, there is a certain amount of lag where you press an icon and wait or sometimes it needs to be pressed twice. Some feel that this might be the switching between the 2 processors on the S6.

I thought I would miss the extra storage space and removable battery but, that is not the case. I only have a 32gb phone and I have plenty of space.

I went with the nexus 6. I've had multiple Samsung phones and I've had nexus phones. Nexus wins hands down every time for me.

Which should I get? Any thoughts?

I had the S6 and it had so many issues. The battery life was horrible for one thing. I'm so glad I got this Nexus. Its the best Android phone.

I've definitely leaning towards the Nexus 6. How is the camera compared to the Nexus 5 (my current phone) and the S6?

There are various opinions. Its not bad but could be better. I don't know how the 5 was.

Have had the nexus 6 since December and just got the s6 to try out yesterday. I like the features. They did a great job. Seems like the n6 is a tad too large and the s6 a tad too small. I guess 5.5 is my sweet spot.

So far I like the camera, features, call quality and screen on the s6. Battery...not so much right now. Just started my 2 week trial but like it so far.

On the N6, screen, speakers, battery and updates are the features I like the most.

Night and day. Having had a nexus 5 and now with an s6 they are not even comparable. S6 is superior in every way I have seen so far. The s6 is best camera I have seen on a device. The n6 is better than the n5, it has the best camera of the nexus devices.

N6 is the best phone on the market imo. The only reason to look elsewhere is if you don't like the size. I personally love the size

I dunno, every time I'v gone in to verizon ready to love the N6 the screen has been a let down. Don't know if it's a brightness or color temperature issue but no screens appear to have a white background. That has been reinforced every time I hold my aging GPE GS4 next to the N6. My phone - Gmail has a WHITE background. The N6 in comparison is sort of light gray... like looking through gray window tinting gel. Is there a fix like a custom kernel with color correction or do you just live with it?

100% spot on... I have both and agree. The s6 camera is even shooting better than my iPhone 6+.
I'm experiencing about the same battery life as my n6..close. I think with the next update Samsung will include some power improvements....

I agree with this. The Nexus 6 is fantastic. I would not switch.

Was going to ask the same question - I ordered another N6 (returned my last one because of the constant reboots), just to find out two hours later that the S6 edge has finally become available here. Now I ordered that one as well - one of the two will have to go back again. Unfortunately, they'll only take them back if they're unopened, so I won't be able to just check out both.

I'm torn - the N6 was great, but the AF speed of the camera was insanely slow. Other than that, I always found it slightly too big (but I can live with the size, I guess). I heard that the S6 has terrible LTE / 4G reception, so that would be a killer, but I don't know if the people who wrote that just have faulty devices.

The N6 has a last-gen processor, no notification LED, a lower-res screen with lower max brightness. The speakers sound ok, but they tend to sound crappy at max volume (at least that was the case for mine).

The S6 Edge clearly looks better, has a faster processor , a better screen, a drastically better camera, but battery life seems to be bad and there's a possible reception issue. I'm in a bit of a pickle here.

I went into the store ready to buy the S6 Edge and came out with the Nexus 6. There is a lot to like about the S6 Edge including a best in class camera, but in the end it just felt like another Samsung phone to me, in spite of the design changes.

I like the Nexus program and I really like the Nexus 6. I've owned all of the Galaxy Notes to date so a big phone doesn't phase me, and the Nexus 6 is as big as it comes. You quickly get used to it and once you do you wonder how you ever used smaller phones.

I like the screen (except in direct brilliant sunlight), the speakers are really good, and it's running Android 5.1 even though mine is the AT&T model (there are always work arounds with a Nexus). I like the Snapdragon 805, for me and how I use my phone, it's perfect.

When I first got the phone I did get the random rebooting some talk about, but since the 5.1 update I have not had one of them so for me at least, the update corrected this one problem completely.

My recommendation, based on what I did in real life is to go with the Nexus 6, you won't be disappointed.

I also moved from the Nexus 5 to the Nexus 6. I did go in and play with an S6 before I made my decision. The N6 camera is so much better than the N5 camera. The S6 camera is better yet, to be sure, but for me that's the only clear advantage. The faster chipset in the S6 is offset by Touchwiz, the nice build materials are offset by poor battery life, etc.

In the end I think it comes down to your priorities regarding size, camera, battery life, and stock Android. For me the winner was easily the N6, but others' mileage may vary.

I agree and if I really care about camera I will either use my iPhone or point and shoot.

That point is moot - most people don't have an additional iPhone and don't carry around a point and shoot 24-7. If your point and shoot takes crappy pictures do you also not care because you have a DSLR along anyway?
