Samsung S6's Brand Destroying Icon Wrappers

Got myself a Samsung S6 as an upgrade from my Nexus 4. Was immediately baffled by the weird theming decision to WRAP every icon. I know this was done to try to give some uniformity to the home screen but the effect it has is to minimize the distinction between app icons and to undermine the brand identity of each app icon by adding non-brand colors to wrap those icons. Additionally it makes all the icons considerably smaller than their intended dimensions so they don't look as the app designers intended.

Is there any way to remove the icon wrappers (pedestals) behind the icons on the S6?

I've tried switching themes but it seems like these wrappers are present in every theme and there is no way to get rid of them completely - the only icons that DON'T have the wrappers are the Samsung icons or the icons for default phone apps (like Camera). Of course.

You can always try a different launcher that supports icon packs (which most of them do). I don't think there's an option in TouchWiz to remove the icon background.

I use stock touchwiz out of laziness but use an app called 'awesome icons' and use that to change my icons with different icon packs from the play store. Not sure what you mean by "wrap" every icon.
