Samsung S7 constantly attempting download overheats

The heading for notifications top left is constantly moving left and right as if trying to show another item. When the notifications list is expanded it constantly bounces as if about to show another notification but then changing its mind... brief flashes of various programmes are visible during this.
The phone is overheating and the battery draining very quickly.

Delete the last text. If that doesn't fix it, back up your texts with SMS Backup & Restore, then delete all your texts. Restart. Then restore all the texts. That should do it.

(Each time you change apps, SMS B&R, your text app, you'll be asked if you wantg to change your text app. Since a phone can have only 1 active one, you have to. When you run the text app for the last time and say Yes, you're back to normal.)
