Had this issue last week. Now there WAS an outage reported very near to where I was (Washington DC Metro area, particularly Bethesda). It looked like whatever it was Verizon quietly fixed it because that next morning I continued to have connection issues once I got to Bethesda but in the afternoon I was able to connect again.

Could also be slightly related to the recent update we received. I've noticed not so great reception in places where I used to be solid.
