samsung s7 unlock code

have just passed my samsung s7 phone to family member, before I give it I did a factory reset, when family member put new ee sim card in it is asking for an 8 digit code, where can I find this please, I only had a 4 digit pin set when I had it and it was on asda mobile payg. all help and advice in getting this phone up and running appreciated

Did you get the phone from ASDA, or from somewhere else? It sounds like the phone is carrier locked.

thanks B Diddy, eldest son gave it to me last year when he got a new phone, he had the phone unlocked before he gave it to me, no idea on when and where he got it but it was a contract phone

Can you ask him what carrier he was on before giving the phone to you? What's the exact model number of the phone? That sometimes gives a hint as well.

thanks again B Diddy. son was on ee contract, got unlock code from samsung which is 15 digits long, phone asking for 12 digits, have asked for the phone to be returned so I can put my sim backin to see what happens

thanks B Diddy, appreciate your help, son had give me the unlock code when he give me the phone, 2 years ago, (I think) when he got an upgrade, had saved the unlock code to cloud, haven't used cloud for a while so forgot it, passed phone on as son has given me s9+ after another upgrade, so up and running with s7 so again thank you for your help and advice
