Samsung S9 USB to HDMI

I'm trying to connect my Samsung S9 to an HDMI cable. I bought an adapter that work perfectly for my Samsung S8 and still does. I tried on multiple TVs and it does not register. It does not work. Do I need to buy a separate cable for my Samsung S9. Please help
