Samsung s9 via USB in car

Can you please help me?

Recently a Samsung s9 owner from iPhone.

I have a JVC KW500 car stereo.

My iPhone worked perfectly init but the S9 won’t. It just says CANNOT PLAY.

Tried everything I can think off, reset stereo, change phone settings and nothing works!

It’s driving me mad (pardon the pun) and I don’t want to go back to iPhone but music is a major factor for me.

Looking at the JVC website (KW-R500 Double DIN Receiver - KW-R500 - Specification) it seems some of that is limited to iPod/iPhone.

One possible work-around - when you plug the phone in does the phone have an option in the notification shade to adjust the USB function? If so, select one of the data modes (you'll need to play with it to see which works) rather than the charge mode. This is what I'm looking at for this:
