Wait. Trump isn't finished yet. He still has enough time to cause a major world-wide depression. Then Samsung will be glad to get $100 for a Note XI.

No, the cellphone industry is no longer in its infancy - it's all about immediate profit now. If they can make more in total by selling $20 phones, they'd do it. (And that wouldn't even be a 2002 dumb phone.) It's not what we want, or how much money we can save, it's about how high they can get their stock price to rise. After all, you can't give yourself a $20 million bonus for the year if your profits are half of last year's. But if you increased profits by 2%? The sky's the limit.

(Yeah, I know that's cynical - capitalism is cynical.)

Like all companies that get too big for their britches, Samsung is learning the hard way what greed will do to your bottom line.

I've never liked Samsung or their phones, I'll never own another one, and I hope they get their butt kicked royally over the next couple years. I feel the same way about Apple.

Agreed with you about the level of greed. In my personal opinion, each manufacturer that charges royally for flagship phones should also invest in mid-range options. Not everyone wants or needs to invest in a very-expensive flagship.
