Is this thing basically an epic 4g for verizon/LTE? Kind of like the Droid Charge was a glorified fascinate.

-Both have 4" Super AMOLED (not plus) screen
-Both have QWERTY keyboard
-Both have 5MP / 720p camera (Actually at a second look i noticed that the stratosphere has ONLY 480p VIDEO)
-Both have 1GHz hummingbird
-Both have TW 3.0

It's unclear whether the 480p thing is a typo in Verizon's spec sheets. Can anyone with a Stratosphere confirm?

It's basically a Epic 4G but with LTE, less TouchWiz features, and a slightly modified keyboard.

The camera offers up the following resolutions for camcorder mode:

720x480
640x480
320x240
176x144

Looks like 480p is all we get. However, I think the hardware can do 720p if we had a camcorder app (or ROM) that would allow it. I'm pretty sure even my Droid2 had 720p and it has the exact same specs.

Ditto. I read that the Epic's 720p mode was nothing to jump for joy over-Engadget preferred the 480p better.

The difference between the Stratosphere and the Epic 4G is a new front facing camera, an LTE radio (instead of the WiMax radio), a slightly differently designed keyboard, and software/bootloader updates. That all. Nothing more and nothing less.

This phone is supposed to be a bulk business contract phone judging by Verizon's official releases on this phone.

Bought this phone day one for the wife. Zero regrets for her. She loved the Epic, and was bummed when we switched to Verizon. Now she has her Epic again. And it was only $150 :P

My best friend just picked this up after months of Epic envy. She LOVES it. We both do a lot of our schoolwork on our phone, so a keyboard is a must. It is very similar to my Epic (but seems snappier on stock than mine on root/overclocked). Besides the already mentioned differences, there are a few more:

NO dedicated camera button, the area where it is on my Epic is just empty space on hers.
MUCH more internal storage space (now I have envy).
Camera is off-center instead of right in the middle (so cases from the Epic won't fit).
Keyboard is more ergonomic, but the buttons aren't nearly as raised (I prefer the Epic)
Charging port on the bottom instead of the top; and NO cover.
Of course the biggie Android 2.3.4 (damn you, Samsung!)

Well you guys all forget as i had both phone and epic 4g had bad internal storage as it was 445 mb after u go to setting.

Samsung stratosphere have 2.20 gb of internal storage after partioning that samsung did with the 4gb.

I think Samsung should update the phone to do hd recording as stratosphere have no reason to not do hd.

Pretty much... No camera button, Mine runs android 2.3.5, a slightly higher res front facing camera, and no led indicator light.
