samsung text messager setting providing message receipt as Read

Is there a setting using the Samsung text messager, that provides receipt of message Read?
I know there is setting for receipt of message Delivered. But I ask about Read.

Only if the recipient supports 'Enhanced Messaging' and they haven't disabled 'read' status. You'll see that conversation as a 'chat' rather than an SMS/MMS thread, and 3rd party messaging apps will not have access to those conversations.

If you are on Verizon and use messages plus it offers this functionality but only if the other person is using messages plus.

OP, BUT this won't be SMS and it will require the other person to have said app (and in most cases, an account with them). Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp are some popular choices, and yes, some people still cling to BBM (credit where credit is due, it WAS the first one to start using the status flags before they fell from grace).
