Samsung Theming Engine

Hi folks,

Just for future reference, in case I decide to upgrade to an S9+, or a Note 8/9, what is Samsung's theming engine like? Are there a lot of choices? If I go with Samsung, I'd like to have an elegant theme, with perhaps a nice cursive font, like Edwardian Script, for example. I also plan to take advantage of the screen by using AMOLED settings wherever possible. I'm not one for a "busy" looking home screen in terms of cartoonish designs or loud colors on my wallpapers; only minimally, so as to keep as many pixels turned off to conserve battery. Are there some examples of the type of theme I'm looking for? I'm assuming I can customize my own theme? Am I right in assuming that Samsung Experience 9 will include new, fresh themes? Feedback is appreciated.

There are a lot of themes both free and not. I don' believe the themes change the fonts (I don't recall), but you can change fonts in settings. You don' have to use the wallpaper that comes with the themes, once you apply the theme you still have control of your wallpaper.

I have decided to stop buying themes because once you upgrade your device to a new OS, sometimes the themes get updated and sometimes the don't. I`m tired of getting themes and then can't find them after upgrading.

They have a lot of nice themes. He res a shot of the font I am currently using. They also have tons of icons, wallpapers, themes, and AOD display designs. I use a leather theme background for some screens, then various wallpapers for others, plus Nova Launcher with custom icons.

There are themes and fonts on theme store, plenty of options to customise. I just got "material black S7" and I like all that black.
Sadly I still have a bit of glaring white to put up with! Google muttering about material dark themes in Android P but I don't beleive them any more.

Google just said they won't put a black theme in P.

Thanks for the heads-up. Hadn't seen the updated article. Was really looking forward to a system wide dark theme.
Yeah me too. One of the things that Samsung stopped doing that I didn't want them to was how they themed the settings and pull down menus to their blue-gray and black. Sure it may not be full black but it's better than white.

As of now I'm using the High_Contrast_Theme, so my phone is black and orange in a lot of areas.

Bummer! I hate all that white! This material black is ok, but doesn't darken everything... I also use Nova in night mode...

Even this stupid site, I go to read the news section and it's glaring white with fluoro green! It's revolting! I have to reverse the colours as it's just too bright and ugly! What were you thinking James? At least I can darken the forums with night mode!

What browser are you using? I mean Samsung's browser has a night mode. And I use the Android Central app, which also has a night mode. The forums app also has a night mode.

I use Chrome browser, no app.
I can make this forum dark, but the news section is bright, I haven't seen any settings to darken it...

Ugly

Thanks for the feedback! That's actually a nice font you're using, so I'm sure there are others like it. I guess I'll have to take a closer look at Samsung's store.

But don't you think a site which wants to be the premier Android site should support the #1 Android Browser (Chrome) fully? Not all of your readers have Samsung phones.
The Samsung browser is available on the Play Store for non Samsung phones.

And its not about support. The difference you see is in how the browsers handle the reversing of colors. The site does not dictate anything to the browsers.

It's available in that app store for anyone. It's actually a better browser than chrome, except I like chrome news feed.
