Samsung Transform Spec Talk

Hey everyone. i just switched from a Sprint Palm Pre to a Samsung Transform. I was sure that the specs for the Transform were at least as good as or better than the Pre... the Transform has a faster processor with the same amount of RAM. i ran a lot of games on the Palm Pre and they were very smooth. The same games on the Transform are so laggy, choppy, and bad i am shocked. WHY  ?

Because Android isn't the best platform for gaming I guess. I have an evo and games are okay on it but the pre does gaming way better. Sadly.

I came from a Palm Pre to the transform as well. To me Android works great but my big draw back as well is the gaming. No 3D games are even available to the Transform except a few. The phone is more than capable however it seems like the devs do not want to optimize they're apps for lower end phones. Rovio said that they're working on getting Angry Birds to play better on these lower end handsets but who knows...

Let's hope Google will get this sorted out

hmmm...

i know angry birds isnt the end all be all, but the way it performs on the Samsung Transform gives me no faith in the hardware. And i have no ID's installed, and use the Advanced task killer before i play it. it makes me think that there is a 1987 buick engine of a processor in it. 800Mhz flies on the G2, but from what i hear, the transform processor is actually an old processor in a brand new phone. its more like a modern day 500Mhz... and with the minimum RAM... i feel bad i got this for my woman. i think im just gonna get her an Epic instead. i feel like Froyo can't make that much of a difference. :(

Lower end Android devices seem kind of pointless to me if you have high expectations. I came from the HTC Hero which wasnt the worst but in comparison to phones like the EVO or the Epic...those phones just dont compete. I think if you're wanting the true Android experience and you want speed and efficiency...you should probably spend a little extra and get the big guns.

I agree. I plan on switching to WP7 as soon as Sprint comes out with one, which is why I bought the Transform

Because the Transform in my humble opinion sucks. I think it is all related to 2.1. Hopefully 2.2 will unleash the full potential for the transform. Could be such a great phone, but was way to slow, buggy, horrible battery life for me. I sold it and got the LG optimus. Haven't looked back. Worlds better in every way.

Spending "a little bit extra" on the Epic over the Transform isn't really realistic if you aren't in one of the handful of 4G areas. +$100 at purchase and +$10 a month for 4G even if you aren't within 100 miles of 4G service made my mind for me. Would have gone Epic if not for that, seemed like such a waste. Thanks Sprint. Dissapointed in how few games the phone can run well, but still really like it overall.

Please tell me how you can uninstall an ID and not have one on a transform! The ID I installed because it looked like I had to put all kinds of junk I can't uninstall on my phone.

Install the ID called "Clean". When I got my transform, the last thing I wanted was a bunch of applications that someone else thought I'd need. Clean installed the fewest of them all - not that I tried any others ;)
