Wondering if anyone has found a hidden setting that can fix this...

The bug I'm running into is familliar to some:
Music starts playing after I unplug my headphones - Android Help

And it's darned annoying. I connect/disconnect a headset and suddenly my Droid decides it needs to start playing whatever item I was last playing. It can be pretty awkward and I have a bit of trepidation now about connecting/disconnecting headsets at work because I don't wish to "sound blast" my coworkers.

Anyone found a work around for this outside of task killing the music player?

I'm pretty sure that this is an issue in the way that the system interprets the 'mute button' lean in a tri-contact headphone jack - i.e. the system thinks that you've hit the mute button on a wired headset which tells it to play/pause music. I get random play/pauses when the connection is bumped just right.

The funny thing is the exact same thing happens when I power off my Bluetooth too.

Given the fact it's essentially the same action through 2 different channels that would indicate the result is something Android itself is doing.

Your bluetooth requires you to hold down the same button that you would press normally to answer/hang up a call, no?

Nope

My BT headset has separate buttons to handle phone operations, play/pause, fwd, back, vol up and down. Power is a completely different button.

Huh... well. I dunno then. I know that there are a lot of issues with the headset jack on the Droid, though.
