Scratched up my Evo 4G LTE Gorilla Glass already

My 7 month old kitten knocked the Evo off the sink in the bathroom when I was taking a shower this morning. It was laying face down on the ceramic tile as he batted it around. That, I really didn't mind, however there was some loose kitty litter (sand based) on the tiles that was what probably what had scratched the glass. Anyway, that's my story. The scratches are hairline and only noticeable in the florescent light under certain angles.

Anyway, I did some research and found out that the Gorilla Glass is made with an alkali-aluminosilicate material. According to this thread here

Gorilla Glass DOES Scratch... But I Know How To Repair it. - PPCGeeks

the scratches can be lightly buffed out with a glaze made from the same material. Anyway, I found a bottle online for $18. I will let you all know if this works out.

Cool keep us posted.

Sand is one of those things that will scratch glass. I went with a screen protector this time around because of how big and beautiful the screen is.

Exactly, that's why I haven't brought the Evo to the beach when I run. The litter and sand connection seemed to have escaped me. I should have made that connection sooner :(

What was the og EVO screen? Gorilla glass 1? I got phantom scratches on it all the time. Scared to mess this screen up but I can't install a screen protector correctly.

The OG EVO was not Gorilla Glass at all. Just plain old phone glass. I always used a screen protector on it but haven't on the EVOLTE. On my EVO View tablet, I started to get tiny visible scratches from using the stylus. I've since put a screen protector on that.

Mine is scratched as the result of a freak accident involving a soapstone coaster. Only visible when the screen is off for the most part, but day-um! Two years of abusing my OG Evo never produced a single scratch.

I also wanted to say using a screen protector helped when I traded in OG Evo. The screen protector had a few nubs or scratches and after removing it for resale screen was perfect.

Of every single phone I have bought, at all the different sprint locations, I have never sedn a rep install a screen saver correctly or withour air in it.

...then again I am a auto window tinter of over 23 years so I am a bit picky about that!

I just prefer the naked look and feel of my phone. I'll take the chance and be very careful.

The Sprint rep where I bought mine, did a near perfect install of the Zagg full body

The OG EVO does have gorilla glass. If you go to the "gorilla glass" website it listed the OG EVO as having gorilla glass. Not sure if its still listed though, its a dated phone now.

I wanna go to the Best Buy you go to because here in Vegas they charge $15 to "install" a screen protector on your phones or tablets.

unrelated but the cat at my parents house has ruined about $10-15k in drapes/curtains. maybe this will ease your pain
