So, after getting my HTC One M8, I went back to my G2 since I was still comfortable with that. Now, after finally ready to move over, I noticed this on start up. I have a brighter than normal part of my screen that can be seen at almost all times. The top of the screen has a noticably brighter section to it. The phone is otherwise perfect, but since I look at the screen 100% of the time, it is a slight bother. This may also be normal. Any thoughts?

Personally, I don't have this screen anomaly, however, if it bothers you this much, try to exchange it.

I would exchange it. It looks like the light is bleeding out from the top.

That would drive me nuts. Especially for a device that costs as much as the M8. I have had this issue with cheaper tablets, but not with higher end devices. I would exchange it.

Thanks for the advice, I kinda figured it was light bleed, but I haven't seen any reports of it being a whole side of the screen. I'm having a phone overnighted to me for replacement.

Driving me nuts was an understatement. You could see it under EVERY condition. It was incredibly pronounced under dark grey, which is the main color of the Sense notification bar. Alls well that ends well. Hoping for a unit with no other defects now :)

I had a light leak problem with (I believe) my HTC Rezound.

That phone gave me so many problems. I had around 4 replacements.

I can't even.

got my replacement today, turned it on, then sent it right back. it had the same bar across the top of the screen along with a dark spot in the top right of the screen. after seeing that, mine doesnt look so bad anymore

Dark spot that looks like a single LED went out in that spot?

I had that happen with two DNAs, and since both had that dark area, I just figured it was normal for the DNA.

Didn't affect the screen quality, but still annoying when you see it =\

:/ Mine looked like that too! Perhaps I shall bring it back to Verizon tonight. I am also experiencing a weird popping noise when talking to people on the phone. Not good!

no, more like the backlight wasn't there. it was the size of a pinky finger...not burned out, just darker.

So I tried again and got another replacement. I sent my original back and now I have this slightly darker line, almost like a shadow about 2mm think and it stretches the length of the bottom of the screen. Unless I use a darker background, it's pretty noticeable right under the Back Home and Multitask button. I just can't seem to win.

EDIT: Here's a picture...looks like I'm calling again tomorrow for replacement #3.

I think the dark circle that some people report is due to an assembly error where too much adhesive was used, because the location is always about the same. Like something is pressing on it from the back. Exchanging *especially* for that issue is important, because if there is static pressure on the back of your screen you also have an increased risk of the actual screen breaking when dropped.

My Flex has some crazy paper-thin plastic OLED layer, seems squishproof and drop proof but no idea if a color will dim or some of the pixels will oxidize by this time next year.

good to know, never thought about pressure being an issue. i'll report back tomorrow when i get my replacement
