Screen backlight uneven?

Maybe I am crazy, but my nexus looks a bit streaky with auto brightness enabled
Anyone noticing something similar?

I'm a screen snob it seems...by the way, this phone is a freaking work of art.

Since there is no backlight, it's definitely not that... maybe it's the "color banding" everyone talks about?

I'm sorry, I misspoke about backlighting since I know it's AMOLED. I mean to say that the screen calibration seems uneven. Wondering if I should exchange it or if it's a Samsung thing.

I brought up color banding in a thread last night. It was visible when I was using a wallpaper that wasn't a 1440x1280 720P HD. I haven't seen it since.

I have the banding everyone is talking about and it is driving me nuts on auto brightness. I don't want to return the phone because it was a pain to buy (the first one he took out for me had a screen that would not even turn on. I'm wondering if I should return it for a different one...I know AMOLEDs have this problem, which I hypothesize has to do with a rush fabrication process...it's frustrating me as a perfectionist...high brightness eliminates the noticeability. Does anyone else have banding issues?

I do, I only notice it on white and gray backgrounds. The screen looks amazing watching videos and playing games though.

I dont know if it is calibration issue or hardware. I would think calibration since the brightness makes a difference. I'm going to have to root and recalibrate, if i can do it to avoid returning it...

I have the brightness at about 30-40%. If you take it down you may see some banding. I generally see it when there is a grey screen.

However if you turn the brightness up to 30-40% and still see it I would exchange the phone.

With brightness at 20 percent or less i see it on white and grey backgrounds, in fact the brightness settings screen is a perfect example as it is a grey , darj background .

To test your phone , just take down the slider for brightness and watch for the streaks to appear .

One of way too many issues on this phone , none of which i have on a galaxy 2 or original droid or wife's new Razr !

Banding on the display plus it looks horrible unless brightness is cranked up , six hour battery life, weak speaker , much slower cdma speeds compared to the Razr , guess this is related to lower signal (less db) . Oh and the camera , just about as goog indoors as my orig Droid .

Why cany vzw offer the gs II ? Even with a lower resolution, such a better phone and it will get ICS.
