I keep mine around 1/4-1/3 I find that works for me. When you keep your screen low it helps prevent burn in.

Yeah, that makes sense. Lol. Thanks. I know I've already asked this question, however, When you take pictures, do you usually keep HDR mode in auto and flash auto?

I leave HDR in auto and flash off. I don't like how flash looks in pics. Just a personal preference.

I feel as though when I take pictures in low light in dark settings with HDR mode and flash, the pictures fine out very dark vs HDR mode off, and flash in Auto. However, I took a close-up picture in a lowlight setting with HDR mode auto and then it did come out nice. I'm just a bit confused.

Don't confuse bright with good. :)

I rarely take my phone off auto HDR with the flash off. First, the flash on any of these phones usually does more harm than good and the resulting image is kinda poo. Second, HDR+ on a Nexus the Google Camera is, by a wide margin, the best HDR mode you can find. Really, it's like magic. It uses a rather unique processing technique that astronomers use with telescopes and it does wonders for reducing noise and evening out exposure without the heavy handed post processing like what you'd get on an S7 or G5. Sure, it is slower, but there's a reason for it being a little slower ... quality.

Wait I'm sorry but still a bit confused. If I use the camera with HDR + is that forcing HDR mode on all the time? Also even st nighttime you don't use the flash? Don't your pictures come out too dark?

I let it sit in Auto HDR+.... it'll toggle HDR+ depending on the picture... though I've found that if the picture is static (no movement in the frame) it almost always turns on. Which is fine, to be honest, since the final picture is usually pretty good.

As for the flash.. I dunno, I just think it does more harm than good in a lot of circumstances, even at night. I used my 6P extensively during a trip to Disney back in February and took a lot of nighttime pics and NEVER used the flash... and I got some incredible shots out of it... had I had the flash on, they would have been not nearly as good.

Ok,so if I Am understanding this correctly then, you turned the flash off, leave it in HDR auto mode, at nighttime. What do you do when your pictures come out all dark?lol I've been trying to find the correct way to use this awesome camera finally. Lol.

Ya know, I'll still say that I get the best shots with the auto flash on and HDR mode off. Sure this make sense?

Whatever works for you. With the flash, stuff just seemed a bit artificially colored. Don't get me wrong, I've used the flash, but only in situations where it;s necessary... otherwise I just let the sensor do its thing if there's any ambient light available. Here's an example... this is a pic that would have gotten bludgeoned to a pulp had the flash been on. This is an HDR+ shot from inside Spaceship Earth at EPCOT. It is really dark in there, on a moving tramway and had the flash been on auto, it would have pretty much blasted the shot with harsh light.

If I can avoid it, I leave the flash off.

I got you i mean,i know everyone's different, and I am by no means a pro photographer. It just seems to not to leave the flash on, and toggle HDR auto mode when needed. Lol. Thanks for helping me out though.

Update: so ice turned flash off for now turned HDR mode on, and manual exposure on as well. I'll have to report back what I get.
