Hi All,

I have a new staff member that I have to manage. Recently she brought up this issue where YouTube on her phone was being projected to the TV in the building. The first thing I thought of was some kind of casting as I don't do this too much. When I looked up the scenario on android my searches brought up smart view.

When I checked smart view I found the section for it and behold I could see the list of tvs that the device could see. Problem is, I found nowhere to stop the smart view process. I could see YouTube playing on her phone. Once I turned off WIFI on her phone the casting appeared to stop. I'm new to this issue, and wondering is there a setting I'm missing to stop the smart view /casting experience without turning off WIFI? I'm also curious how someone else would be able to cast from her phone as she doesn't recall doing it.

Thanks all,

Hi jctech,
First off, it'll depend on what phone she's using, as different phones/brands/models have different android versions & UI's. &c.

If e.g., a recent android version (of say, a Samsung Galaxy phone), there's a 'Smart View - Mirror screen' button near the bottom of the large quick settings & notification drop-down screen – when it's swyped down from the top status bar:

Have you checked if that button is enabled/disabled?

Moreover, in Settings, there's 'Connected devices' > 'Smart view' . . where you can also check to make sure that there's not any 'share' or 'mirror' toggle switches or devices enabled, &c:

Hi, thanks for the reply!

So I checked the notifications/settings section for that button to try and disable it. I don't see it there nor did I see an option to add it.

For the Connected devices section, I did find my way to the Smart view part. It showed three devices listed, I first went to the three dots in the right corner to see if there was a way to disable it and there wasn't. I found this article "https://www.wikihow.com/Turn-Off-Screen-Mirroring", so I'm wandering if I need to actually select the actual device to disconnect?

The thing is, if I can't find a way to disable this feature, then somehow the tv's in the building are going to automatically pop up in Smart view when she is on the building WiFI? I know the tvs in the building are Google TVs, so maybe that plays a part?, not sure.

I really try to do my own research before asking questions in all the forums I am a part of. So thanks again for feedback to all.
