Screen light up for sms.

How do I get my screen to light up for text messages? I've had a moto 360 connected to this phone since the beginning so it hasn't been an issue. But now I haven't been wearing it as much and I'd like the screen to light up when I get messages. I've scoured the phone but haven't found the setting.

What about the LED?
SETTINGS, Sound & Notification, "Flash LED for Notifications"

I don't see a setting to "wake" the device,

Thanks. The front LED is useless and the flash is too bright and obnoxious.
I've downloaded an app called WON-wake on notification. So far it does what I want but it's only been 10 minutes of testing. We'll see how reliable it is in the long run. I swear every android phone I've had wakes on notification. I was just surprised to have one that apparently didn't, and can't find an option to turn it on. This is my first HTC though.

Textra has a wake up screen setting. I think it's just the stock htc messaging app doesn't have this?

Not just the stock SMS app. I use Google Messenger app and it does not light up the screen. I like this way since there is already a notification led.
