Screen lock pattern auto lock

I have the security set too wait 5 minutes before locking the screen but 1 quick press of the power button locks the screen instantaneously again, what am I doing wrong here?

That delay for locking the screen is only for when the phone times out. Its assuming that if the screen times out and turns off, you were intending to return to the device fairly quickly, and therefore wouldn't want to enter the PW again. So by comparison it assumes that if you hit the power button to turn off the screen, you don't want it to be unlocked w/o a PW when you return to it.

I need a screen off button then :/ the reason why I hit it is to save battery when I know I'm not using it, but I don't wanna shorten my original screen time

It would be nice to be able to change that particular setting regarding the power button and locking the phone. I also dislike that when I'm on the phone, it locks itself up by the time I complete most of my calls. This is even when the phone is unlocked at the time I place the call, or receive one.
