Screen not responsive and or turning off by itself

I finally talked my wife away from the I*hone and got her a Bionic. To her surprise she really likes Andriod and the versatility it offers. There are a couple of issues she does have tho and they are, the screen and she can't play farmville on facebook like on her I*hone lol. Does anyone have any issues with their screen like we are? There are times when the screen just shuts off by itself or it is unresponsive. Is there something we could do to fix it or is this a software issue that needs an update to fix? Any info is appreciated, thanks
