When I had the Bionic the Screen Off and Lock app would not work as it should. It would turn the screen off for a split second, but the Motorola lock screen would appear afterwards. The app works fine on my other two Android phones, but not Motorola phones. I tried out similar apps, and they all had the same results. The developers said they were not able to work around the lock screen Motorola has on the device.
Has anyone found a more recent app that works? I've come so accustomed to going into standby mode without having to use the power button. It also helps to save wear and tear.

I could never get it to shut off instantly, the way the app is supposed to work. Devs said it was no way of getting around the Motorola lock screen. Wondering if Devs figured a way to override it.

Perfectly

Thanks. Hoping it works the same way 'Screen Off and Lock' works for my Thunderbolt. Should be getting the Maxx soon. Can't wait to try it out.

Screen Off by Konreu

Just got my Maxx today, so I was able to try out the app.
Unfortunately, I'll have to keep looking.
The screen off ability seems to be locked down by Motorola.

This app only put the screen to sleep, and displayed a Lock Icon on the screen.
I'm looking for an app that will allow me to press the app's icon on my home screen,
then turn the screen off and put the phone to sleep just like the power button.
All of the apps I've tried work on my other Android devices, but non of the Motorola devices.

So far the closest I've found is "Lock & Screen Off Widget" by FSINB
It will turn the screen off, then go into standby mode within 5 seconds if the screen or phone buttons aren't pressed.
Still not exactly what I'd prefer, but it's a start.
