Anyone know of a screen off app/widget that allows fingerprint sensor to return to the home screen afterwards without the secondary security required (pattern or pin)? IF the phone falls asleep on its own, the fingerprint sensor will return to the home screen without secondary security needed.

Are you saying if you turn off the screen using the power button you need a secondary form of security in addition to the fingerprint? That the only way to use the fingerprint is to let the screen go off on it's own?

As far as I know every Screen off app will also lock the phone. I've been looking for such an app for a long time with no luck. Apparently it's very difficult and unstable to create an app that split the off and lock actions.

No, the hard button works fine (should have added that point too)... but I liked using a screen off app button instead. Using that, it requires secondary security every time. This seems like a new issue after marshmallow, but maybe it's always been there since I;ve never used security before the fingerprint sensor.

Yes, this is so annoying BC I don't like pressing the power button to turn off the screen. Hopefully a solution will come out soon.

I'd imagine this is a security measure to stop an app pretending to be off and capturing fingerprint data perhaps?

If so then i cant imagine it can be avoided.. then again hopefully apps cant access fingerprint data.. but who knows!

I do know that your fingerprint is stored locally on the phone and I assume encrypted. So, there should be much less chance of that. Plus, there really isnt much point to it for a remote hacker.... unless your name is Jack Bauer.
